Christina Applegate is celebrating a major milestone.
The actress, who went public with her multiple sclerosis diagnosis earlier this year, turned 50 on Thanksgiving Day and got real with her followers about her health struggles despite the special day.
Difficult Birthday
“Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS. It’s been a hard one. Sending so much love to all of you this day,” she wrote on Twitter.

‘Dead to Me’ Season 3 Paused
Update on October 18, 2021
Sorry folks, but we’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for Season 3 of Dead to Me.
After Christina Applegate went public with her multiple sclerosis diagnosis back in August, filming was halted indefinitely.
“We love and support Christina and respect her privacy as she takes the time and space she needs in this moment,” the show said in a statement.
Co-Star James Marsden Shows Support
Christina’s co-star, James Marsden, acknowledged her resilience shortly after she shared her health struggle.
“That is her character. It is just who she is. Nothing is going to keep her down and she is going to battle and fight through anything and I admire her as a person,” he told Entertainment Tonight back in September.

“Just as a compassionate, wonderful human being who is fun to work with but is also, in addition to that, anything that life will throw at her, she will figure out a way to not let it keep her down. And she is doing exactly that and it is really, really inspiring to see. But honestly, that is no surprise to me because that’s who she is as a character and as a human being.”
While filming did begin on Season 3 back in May, it’s unclear when the show will pick back up again.
Christina Reveals She has MS
Original story (August 10, 2021)
Christina Applegate is getting honest with fans about her recent health diagnosis.
The former Married With Children star took to Twitter on Tuesday, August 10, to announce she’s been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

But, despite the tough rough ahead, the 49-year-old is ready to tackle this disease head-on. And, thankfully, she has a close friend in Hollywood who is going through the same thing alongside her.
Shares Message With Fans
In her message to fans, the Dead to Me actress explained she found out about her diagnosis a few months ago.
“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some [a-hole] blocks it.”
As one of my friends that has MS said “ we wake up and take the indicated action”. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo

For those who aren’t familiar, multiple sclerosis is a disease that attacks the body’s nervous system.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves.”
While there is no cure for the disease, treatment can help recovery and manage symptoms for those who suffer.
Christina’s Not the Only One in Hollywood With MS
As previously mentioned, Christina is not the only Hollywood star who has been diagnosed with MS. In fact, her close friend, Selma Blair, went public with her diagnosis back in October 2018.
“I am in the thick of it but I hope to give some hope to others. And even to myself. You can’t get help unless you ask. It can be overwhelming in the beginning,” the actress wrote on Instagram at the time.

“You want to sleep. You always want to sleep. So I don’t have answers. You see, I want to sleep. But I am a forthcoming person and I want my life to be full somehow.”
Along with Selma, former Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler also suffers from MS. She went public with her diagnosis back in 2016 but explained she was actually diagnosed when she was just 20 years old.

“When I was diagnosed [at age 20], my doctor said, ‘I don’t want you to think you can’t do anything that you don’t want to do in this life.’ MS is part of me, but it’s not who I am,” Jamie-Lynn previously told Glamour.
Not Christina’s First Health Battle
The Anchorman star has been open about other health issues over the years, including a breast cancer diagnosis back in 2008. She then underwent a double mastectomy the same year and decided to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in 2017.
“My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that. That’s how I’ve taken control of everything. It’s a relief. That’s one other thing off the table. Now, let’s hope I don’t get hit by a bus,” she told Today.
We’re sending you good thoughts and well-wishes, Christina!
