Chyler Leigh recently said she would come back to her Supergirl role “in a heartbeat.” And I hope her wish comes true soon.

Alex Returned for ‘The Flash’ Crossover Event

Not even a month after Supergirl ended, Leigh returned as Alex in The Flash‘s “Armageddon” event. She recounted that it had only been a few weeks between filming for both shows.

Ahead of the appearance, she told The Wrap that she isn’t done with the character by any means.

“What I will say is I am very, very, very grateful to be a part of it. I was asked if I was interested and if I wanted to, you know, take part, and I was like, ‘Uhh, hell yeah.’ I knew I wasn’t quite done with Alex or Sentinel. I just had that feeling, you know? Along the way, I was like, ‘I’m just not… I’m not ready yet!'”

In the episode she appeared in, it’s clear to see Alex is still defending the Arrowverse off-screen, so there’s plenty of her story left to visit. Leigh said the appearance in the crossover brought a level of closure to the character without the emotional weight that the Supergirl finale had.

Leigh Would Return in a Heartbeat

After the appearance, she spoke with CBR about the character and a potential spinoff following Alex and her on-screen wife, Kelly Olsen.

“I would do it all over again, and I’m still rooting for a Kelly and Alex spinoff. I don’t know. I’m just saying rooting for it… You didn’t see Kelly and Alex ride off into the sunset but hop onto their bikes to go save other people. Esme would love that. I’d love to throw that around and get that trending. I would honestly really do it in a heartbeat. I love Alex, and everything that I got to build with her and how I grew as a person, and the love that I have for my family is love that I was able to embody through her. I’d absolutely love to put that suit back on.”

A spinoff following Alex and Kelly would be a great addition to the Arrowverse that many Supergirl fans would tune into weekly. Even better, seeing them struggle with their secret identities while raising a superpowered daughter would be interesting.

‘Supergirl’ Ended on an Emotional Note

As portrayed by Chyler Leigh, Alex Danvers was first introduced in Arrowverse’s Supergirl as the titular character’s adoptive older sister. Leigh’s character quickly became a fan favorite.

The character takes on the role of vigilante Sentinel in season six to join the fight against Lex Luthor. As the hero, she uses a Kryptonite-powered suit and sword to compensate for the lack of powers. She uses the equipment in the finale to rescue her adoptive alien daughter, Esme.

She and Kelly Olsen fight crime together as Sentinel and Guardian. Kelly took up the Sentinel mantle in season six, taking over the role from her brother Jimmy Olsen. Neither characters’ story is close to over. In fact, it’s only just begun.

The finale also saw Kara Danvers reveal her identity as Supergirl with the help of her former boss at CatCo, Cat Grant. Needless to say, there were tears, both happy and sad, mixed in with the action and humor.

Here’s to hoping we get more of the Supergirl crew back on screen soon.
