Don’t worry folks, Tom Holland’s time playing Peter Parker isn’t ending anytime soon.

Despite fans speculating Spider-Man: No Way Home could be the last time Holland portrays the web-slinger in an MCU film, Sony producer Amy Pascal recently shut down those rumors.

In fact, Pascal revealed they have plans for a new trilogy of films starring Holland as Spider-Man.

Spider-Man’s Staying in the MCU

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last ‘Spider-Man’ movie,” she told Fandango.

“We are getting ready to make the next ‘Spider-Man’ movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of… we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three.”

She continued, “This is not the last of our MCU movies. Marvel and Sony are going to keep going together as partners.”

While fans have been freaking out over the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer dropping last night, Tom Holland just gave us another reason to freak out. He thinks it’s almost time for Peter Parker to leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Tom Holland Says Miles Morales Should Be the Next Spidey

While being interviewed by GQ, Tom Holland mentioned he wants to retire from the role of Peter Parker before his thirties. His choice would be to introduce Miles Morales soon, giving Peter Parker a way out of the spotlight.

“Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”

Producer Amy Pascal said she has hundreds of ideas for Spider-Man films and that she can’t imagine making them without Holland. On the other hand, Tom doesn’t know when his time will be over for the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Verse.

And while it’s unclear how much longer we have with Tom, fans are hoping it’s not forever. Maybe he could make a few appearances here and there.

Tom’s Been in the Role for Five Years

Tom Holland has been playing Peter Parker’s version of Spider-Man since his debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. In those five years, he’s played the character in five other movies. His next adventure as the web-slinger comes December 17 in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The trailer for the upcoming movie dropped last night and is looking to be the darkest MCU Spider-Man endeavor. The film picks up directly where the last one left off with his secret identity being exposed. In it, we see a swarm of villains from the previous two Spider-Man franchises.

One notable missing detail is Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, who are rumored to be making appearances.

Who Is Miles Morales?

Morales made his comic debut in 2011. But he really made a splash in 2018 when he was the main protagonist of Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It was his first time in a movie, but we have yet to see him in a live-action flick. He was also featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game last year.

The 2018 movie was praised for how it handled Morales’s background as an Afro-Puerto Rican.

The MCU already laid the groundwork for introducing Miles Morales to fans. Peter had a brief exchange with Miles’s uncle, Aaron Davis, who Donald Glover played in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Let’s hope they bring him back when they finally give us Miles’s first live-action movie.

Fans are excited to see more of Spider-Man’s allies and enemies in the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Verse. We’re just not ready to see Holland leave just yet.

We’ve already got Venom, Carnage, and Morbius. And, we’re expecting to see the beginning of the Sinister Six in Spider-Man: No Way Home leading up to their upcoming Sony film. Who else could be coming to the MCU in No Way Home?

I hope we get more characters like Silk, Spider-Gwen, and the Scarlet Spider in the MCU soon. Who do you want to see on-screen?
