An Active Playlist for the Zodiac

The New Year is here and the warmer seasons are right around the corner. Some of you may have made resolutions to be more active in 2023. You can run, hike, bike, or dance around. But you can’t do any of that without a good playlist… I mean, I guess you can, but it wouldn’t be as fun!

Last week, we listened to a fun playlist for the New Year, but this week I have compiled a fun and active playlist for the whole zodiac. Read on to find out which song you should blast through your earbuds. Don’t forget to check your moon and rising sign as well as your sun sign. You can check your birth chart here.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated. Have fun out there!

Warning: Some of these songs have explicit lyrics. Proceed with caution.

Aries – The Warrior

Written by Nick Gilder and Holly Knight and performed by Scandal.

Aries is the warrior of the zodiac, so naturally, I had to pair it with this Patty Smyth classic. When picking an Aries song for this playlist, I approached the decision the same way I did on the Stevie Nicks playlist. So I picked a song that appealed to Aries, wild side and fighting spirit.

Lyrics Aries will love:

“Your eyes touch me physically

Stay with me, we’ll take the night

As passion takes another bite”

Taurus – Tempo

Written and performed by Lizzo. Co-written by Melissa Elliot, Theron Thomas, Raymond Scott, Dan Farber, Eric Frederic, Antonia Cuna, and Tobias Wincorn.

Taurus has to shake their booty to a song written by one of the greatest Taurean performers of our time. The wholesome hedonist will love the lyrics and the subtle double entendres about cake. And true to its title, the song’s tempo will make all the fixed earth signs get up and dance.

Lyrics Taurus will love:

“Boyfriend watchin’, oh, now he wanna knuckle up

Get on this ride, baby, you gon’ have to buckle up

Thick thighs save lives, call me little buttercup”

Gemini – Two of Hearts

Written by John Mitchell and performed by Stacey Q.

Gemini gets a blast from the past! Geminis are represented by “the twins” so this song will be perfect for the dualistic air sign. This song’s upbeat rhythm and staccato lyrics will get Gemini’s blood pumping and their feet tapping.

Lyrics Gemini will love:

“I never said I wasn’t gonna tell nobody

No, baby

But this good lovin’ I can’t keep it to myself

Oh, no”

Cancer – Bark at the Moon

Written and performed by Ozzy Osbourne. Co-written by Jake E. Lee and Bob Daisley.

Like Aries and Gemini, Cancer also gets to be paired with a fun 80s song. There is just something about 80s music that makes you want to get active. Cancerians are often called moon children because they are ruled by the moon, so this wild song about a man turning into a werewolf at the sight of a full moon will get them howling and hopping.

Lyrics Cancer will love:

“Those that the beast is looking for

Listen in awe and you’ll hear him

Bark at the moon”

Leo – You Should See Me in a Crown

Written and performed by Billie Eilish. Co-written by Finneas O’Connell.

As the sovereign of the zodiac, Leos should wear a crown at all times. However, wearing a crown while exercising may strain your neck. So you can try listening to this song instead. Blast this song and make them bow!

Lyrics Leo will love:

“You should see me in a crown

I’m gonna run this nothing town

Watch me make ’em bow

One by one by one”

Virgo – Formation

Written and performed by Beyoncé Knowles. Co-written by Khalif Brown, Asheton Hogan, Michael Len Williams II.

Beyoncé is arguably one of the most famous Virgos in the world. So naturally, I had to pick one of her most iconic songs for the mutable earth sign. This song will certainly encourage Virgos to get into formation!

Lyrics Virgo will love:

“Earned all this money but they never take the country out me”

Libra – Wings

Written and performed by Little Mix. Co-Written by Thomas Barnes, Peter Kelleher, Ben Kohn, Iain James,, Erika Nuri, Michelle Lewis, Mischke Butler, Heidi Rojas.

Libras are known to be social butterflies, so I had to pair them with this fun bubblegum pop song from the British girl group Little Mix. When the air sign listens to this song, their feet won’t be able to touch the ground.

Lyrics Libra will love:

“My feet, feet can’t touch the ground

And I can’t hear a sound

But you just keep on running up your mouth, yeah”

Scorpio – S&M

Written by Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor ErikHermansen, Sandy Wilhelm, Ester Dean Britney Spears (remix). Performed by Rihanna.

Scorpios are not that bad, but they are perfectly good! As one of the sexiest and most sensual signs in the zodiac, the fixed water sign will enjoy running or dancing to this Rihanna classic.

Lyrics Scorpio will love:

“Now the pain is for pleasure

‘Cause nothing can measure”

Sagittarius – Highway To Hell

Written and performed by AC/DC.

I can not think of a better, fast-paced rock song for the travel-loving Sagittarius. The mutable fire sign can indulge in their wanderlust by blasting this song through their earbuds while they go for a jog.

Lyrics Sagittarius will love:

“Don’t need reason

Don’t need rhyme

Ain’t nothin’ that I’d rather do

Goin’ down

Party time”

Capricorn – Work

Written and performed by Rihanna. Co-Written by Jahron Brathwaite Matthew Samuels, Allen Ritter, Rupert Thomas Jr., Aubrey Graham, Monte Moir

Rihanna gets two songs on this list, because of course she does. The iconic singer has a lot of Capricorn in her chart, so maybe she was channeling that energy when she wrote this fun and catchy song. I can see the cardinal earth sign dancing or kickboxing to this song.

Lyrics Capricorn will love:

“I believed all of your dreams, adoration

You took my heart and my keys and my patience”

Aquarius – Extreme

Written and performed by Valora.

Aquarians often feel like they are a little too extreme and “out there,” so they will surely love this song. On a personal note, I hike and dance to this song all of the time and I am a lunar Aquarian. So I can guarantee that most Aquarians will enjoy this song.

Lyrics Aquarius will love:

“White picket fence, the typical picture

Think you should know that’s not what I’m into”

Pisces – Sail

Written and performed by Awolnation.

Warning: this song has mentions of suicide.

This song is a little slower than the other songs on this list, but that is probably perfect for peaceful Pisces. Though the term “peaceful” is somewhat relative because this song is not exactly serene. But I can still envision the imaginative escapist water sign hiking, dancing, or even doing extreme yoga to this song.

Lyrics Pisces will love:

“Maybe I’m a different breed

Maybe I’m not listening

So blame it on my ADD, baby”

Ophiuchus – Tiptoe Through The Tulips

Written by Al Dubin and Joe Burke. Performed by Tiny Tim.

Ophiuchus is not a real sign, so they don’t get a song that they can work out to. Instead, they get a song for frolicking. Also, R.I.P Tiny Tim
