Are we about to get some new music from Christina Aguilera?

It looks like the 39-year-old pop superstar has signed a new management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label.

There hasn’t been an official announcement from Aguilera herself, or from Roc Nation. However, as per Variety, it looks to be official. At least, according to the presence of her photo and bio on the company’s website. You can find her under the long list of artists they manage.

The Grammy winner joins a mecca of music artists at Roc Nation. The Jay-Z-helmed agency reps a wide range of successful artists, including Mariah Carey, DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, and Rihanna.

Sources close to Roc Nation say that the deal went through weeks ago.

Christina Aguilera Split From Manager of 20 Years

The jump to Roc Nation comes on the heels of Aguilera parting ways with her manager of 20 years, Irving Azoff. It’s unclear if her joining Roc Nation Management came before or after the decision to split from manager Azoff.

I don’t know about you, but I’m hoping this fresh change in management means that we’re about to see more from Aguilera.

It’s worth noting that the “Fighter” hitmaker still appears on RCA Records’ list of artists. It looks like she is still signed to RCA for releasing music, with Roc Nation focusing on management.

According to the agency’s website, they are “a full-service organization” that offers “artist management, music publishing, touring, production, strategic brand development, and beyond.”

Aguilera’s most recent studio album was Liberation, released in 2018. It was followed by a North American tour that fall. She then embarked on a longer European tour in the summer and fall of the following year. She also played a 25-date residency at the Zappos Theater in Las Vegas.

Aguilera’s Remake of “Reflection”

Earlier this year, the pop superstar released a remake of her first single, “Reflection.” It was recorded back when Aguilera was only 17, for the 1998 animated Disney film Mulan. You’ll remember it if you watched the Disney Channel back then, because they played it just about every half hour for months on end. Personally, I still have it ingrained into my brain — but I don’t mind it.

The song’s remake was featured in the movie soundtrack for the new live action remake of Mulan (2020). The soundtrack, released in March 2020, also featured another song from Aguilera: the newly written “Loyal Brave True.”

“Reflection” means a lot to Aguilera, because it was really a key turning point in her career. In fact, the success of that first single is what ultimately convinced RCA to let her record and release a debut album.

“The film Mulan and the song ‘Reflection’ coincided with getting me my first record deal,” Aguilera pointed out recently. “It’s amazing to come back to such an incredible movie that’s full of power and meaning, and that meaning holds the test of time: staying true to yourself, being who you are, and teaching how to be fearless. My new song, ‘Loyal Brave True,’ represents the fine balance between vulnerability and strength.”
