John Legend hit the 2020 Billboard Music Awards stage on Wednesday, October 14 following his wife, Chrissy Teigen’s, devastating pregnancy loss in September.
The singer performed his song “Never Break” and dedicated the song to his wife.

Kelly Clarkson Honors Her Pal
Just before Legend took the state, host Kelly Clarkson — who judges The Voice alongside the “All of Me” crooner — took a moment to talk about her friend.
“I want to take a moment to talk about a friend who inspires me on the daily. Not only as a musician, a songwriter, but as a human,” she shared.
“John Legend is one of my favorite people on this planet and it’s easy for us all to feel that way about them because he and Chrissy just have this warm way of inviting us into their world — the highs and the lows.”
She continued, “My heart, obviously all of our hearts, go out to you both in this very difficult time and I’m thankful that you continue to share your light and your talent with all of us.”
For Chrissy
Before beginning his song, Legend said, “This is for Chrissy.” This was his first performance since losing their third child.
The couple first announced they were pregnant in Legend’s music video for “Wild,” which came out in August.
Teigen was honest on Instagram following their announcement about her complicated pregnancy, even revealing she had to be put on bed rest in September.
However, by the end of September, she was experiencing an abnormal amount of blood loss and had to be taken to the hospital.
Though the doctors did everything they could to save the baby, she was suffering too much blood loss.
Teigen shared her pregnancy loss with her followers on September 30 and revealed they had called their third child, who was a boy, Jack.
