Taylor Swift’s Folklore is back on top again, according to the charts.

The newest album from the singer-songwriter returns to the coveted no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart for an eighth non-consecutive week.

Folklore’s return hits the new October 31-dated chart, which will be posted in full on Billboard’s official site on October 27.

Folklore Sold Another 57,000 Copies in a Week

The jump back to no. 1 can be attributed to an explosion of sales on Swift’s official webstore. She sold autographed CDs of the set at $25 a pop, for a limited time. Swift managed to sell another 57,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending October 22, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

In other words, fans really, really wanted those limited autographed copies.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on consumption. Basically, they look at album sales, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, ad-supported audio and video streams, or paid subscription on-demand streams generated by songs from an album. Each of these factors make up units — with album sales weighing the heaviest — and then these units are added up.

To get back to no. 1, Swift racked up 77,000 equivalent album units in one week.

First Album to Sell 1 Million Copies in 2020

Those 57,000 albums sold in the latest tracking week also means something else for Swift. It pushes Folklore as the first album to sell a million copies in the U.S. in 2020. That’s no easy feat, considering the current state of affairs. It’s also worth noting that it wasn’t even released until July 24.

With Folklore’s release, the album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, dated August 8. From there, it’s continued to head back to the top eight times now.

On top of being the first album to sell a million copies in 2020, Folklore also holds the honor of being the first album released in 2020 to sell a million copies.

Taylor Swift knows how to write ‘em, I guess. Her last album, Lover, was pretty popular, too, considering it sold 1.09 million copies last year. That’s of it’s now-total of 1.22 million sales. Released on August 23, 2019, it was actually the only album to sell a million copies in the U.S. last year.

It doesn’t stop there, though. Folklore is actually Swift’s ninth album to sell at least a million copies. That means that all eight of her studio albums, along with her Christmas release, have all seen plenty of success.

Taylor Swift’s 2020 American Music Awards Nominations

Swift is certainly having quite the week. On top of her chart-topping album making history, it was just announced that she’s snagged a few nominations for this year’s American Music Awards.

If she wins, she could be making history. She’s nominated for favorite female pop/rock artist — and if she wins, she’ll become the first five-time winner in the show’s history. As it stands, she’s tied with Whitney Houston and Olivia Newton-John with four wins each.

Swift is also nominated for favorite music video, with “Cardigan.” She won the same category last year with “You Need to Calm Down.”
