Let’s just cut to the chase, we’re living through tough times right now.
Between the upcoming election, COVID-19, the wildfires destroying California… who am I kidding, I don’t need to tell you all that’s wrong in our world!
Because of all the turmoil and constant stress, it’s important we find ways to soothe our anxiety, de-stress, and, above all else, laugh.
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard is a great podcast to listen to if you want to learn more about our world and dive deeper into serious issues, but it’s also great if you just need an escape.
From interviews with actors, musicians, authors, athletes, and so many other interesting people, Dax knows how to bring joy to each week with his episodes.
If you’re looking to feel a little bit better today, here are the episodes you need to check out ASAP!
Kate and Oliver Hudson — Episode 154 (November 4, 2019)
This podcast is fun for a number of reasons, but it’s especially interesting because — surprise — Kate and Dax used to date!
These two don’t hold back as they dive into their past relationship and how they were able to have a clean breakup.
Oliver also dishes on getting to know Dax as Kate’s boyfriend and what their friendship was like. This episode is full of laughs, trust me.
Mila Kunis — Episode 29 (July 23, 2018)
Because Mila and Dax are friends, this episode feels extremely relaxed and comfortable.
Though the actress is usually very private about her personal life, she opens up about moving to the United States as a child, starting her acting career, and what it was like to fall in love with her husband Ashton Kutcher.
Jimmy Kimmel — Episode 5 (February 19, 2018)
Jimmy came on to the show as one of Dax’s first-ever guests and absolutely crushed.
This should come as no surprise, seeing as how Jimmy is a late-night talk show host and started his career in radio, but he really brought the laughs.
If you’re interested in late-night shows or comedy in general, this one is for you.
Chelsea Handler — Episode 92 (April 1, 2019)
While this episode is obviously hilarious, Chelsea also goes very deep as she talks about losing her brother at a young age and what it’s like to deal with trauma.
Chelsea has always been a very open book, but she somehow manages to reveal even more of herself in this episode.
Kumail Nanjiani — Episode 108 (May 27, 2019)
In a surprisingly vulnerable episode, Kumail opens up about growing up in Pakistan. He also discusses moving to the United States in college and his relationship with his wife.
Kumail also talks about his relationship with his body and feeling excluded, which I think we all can relate to in some way.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus — Episode 114 (June 17, 2019)
Julia talks about raising children in Los Angeles and what it was like to be diagnosed with breast cancer. She also opens up about her success in television and what it was like to be on a show as successful as Seinfeld.
While Julia is incredibly hilarious, especially when she tells stories from her past, her ability to be honest and vulnerable will resonate with listeners.
While these episodes don’t make the cut for our absolute favorite, they do deserve to be talked about!
Gwyneth Paltrow — Episode 88 (March 18, 2019)
Ashton Kutcher — Episode 3 (February 14, 2018)
Amy Schumer — Episode 48 (October 15, 2018)
Ben Platt — Episode 126 (July 29, 2019)
Leslie Odom Jr. — Episode 231 (August 3, 2020)
