2020 has been a dumpster fire of a year (we don’t have to get into specifics) and it’s been hard to find reasons to laugh or feel joy. OK, this is getting dark, but it’s the truth!
I know we’re all trying our best to stay positive and to put on a happy face, but sometimes it’s easier to just stay in bed, eat Hot Cheetos, and binge Netflix all day. Yes, I’m speaking from personal experience.
So, it’s important that we find things throughout our day that bring us joy and happiness, and for me, that’s been podcasts.
I pop in my headphones, go out for a little walk, and I immediately feel 10 times better. You know what they say, laughter, it’s the best medicine! I’ve already talked about my favorite episodes of ‘Armchair Expert’ with Dax Shepard to pick you up, and my favorite movie-related podcasts, but these are just all-around feel good choices.
If you’re needing a little pick-me-up or you’re searching for your next favorite podcast, here are some you need to check out ASAP.
Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan
If you want to belly laugh so hard you need to pull your car over to regroup, listen to comedian Heather McMahan’s podcast, Absolutely Not.
There’s a good chance you’ve probably stumbled upon Heather’s Instagram page (if you’re not already following her), as she posts hilarious videos and the most relatable Instagram Stories.
Whether she’s complaining about living with her 72-year-old mother, Robin, having to deal with her fiancé, Jeff, or getting real and raw about her life struggles, Heather never fails to bring the laughs.

Calling all late-night fans, this one is for you. Conan is obviously a very funny comedian, but his conservations with some of the biggest Hollywood stars are next level.
His guests include Ricky Gervais, Maya Rudolph, Jim Carrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Michelle Obama (yes, the Michelle Obama).
2 Dope Queens
Hosts Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams are arguably two of the funniest people on the planet.
They hold absolutely nothing back on this podcast and truly discuss everything under the sun.
Whether you’re looking for conversations with other comedians or just some straight-up girl talk, this is the podcast for you.
WTF with Marc Maron
If you’re interested in comedy and podcasts there’s a good chance you’ve already heard of this podcast, but it bears repeating.
Marc, who is a comedian and actor, has great conversations with some of the biggest Hollywood stars on the planet.
No seriously, he’s had Barack Obama, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio on his podcast.
While the A-list conversations are hilarious and revealing, Marc allows himself to be very vulnerable, even discussing the passing of his girlfriend, Lynn Shelton.

Yes, Whitney Cummings is incredibly hilarious, but she’s also very honest about her struggles in comedy, relationships, and life in general.
She has great guests, including Dan Levy, Nikki Glaser, David Spade, and Busy Phillipps, and always makes me feel better about my own life after listening to an episode.
