Ready, set, action! The film industry has taken a serious hit over the past year due in large part to the coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop loving movies altogether.

Though the number of new releases we’re getting this year is significantly lower than in past years, there’s still a lot to enjoy in the world of film.

There are not only thousands of movies to re-watch, but there are also so many classics you can check out for the first time.

So, if you call yourself a cinéphile — or just a lover of movies — here are a handful of podcasts you have to start listening to right now.

The Rewatchables

The Rewatchables
The Ringer

We all have that movie (or movies) we’ve watched a hundred times and never seem to get tired of.

Whether it’s a hilarious comedy like Step Brothers or an award-winning masterpiece like The Social Network, there are hundreds of rewatchable films out there.

The Rewatchables podcast, which is created by The Ringer, takes a new movie every week and provides hilarious commentary, fun facts, and behind-the-scenes info on all your favorite films of the past.

Plus, they’ve had some incredible filmmakers and actors on as special co-hosts, including Quentin Tarantino, Bill Hader, Issa Rae, and Judd Apatow.

Calling all film nerds! If you’re someone who marvels at the scripts in films and wonders how screenwriters are able to create such elegant dialogue, this podcast is calling your name.

In fact, it is hosted by two screenwriters, John August and Craig Mazin who really dissect what it takes to create a great script.

They also interview successful people in the industry, such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The Big Picture

This is another podcast by The Ringer and it is all about movies.

Whether you’re looking to hear news about upcoming films, the Oscars, past hits, or really anything in between, this is the podcast for you.

Hosted by Sean Fennessey and Amanda Dobbins, this a great podcast to check out if you’re interested in new releases and what the state of the movie industry is looking like right now.

Plus, these two have a great rapport and know how to have some fun.

How Did This Get Made?

Do you ever find yourself watching a movie that is so bad you think to yourself, “How did this get made?” If so, here’s a podcast or you!

For every great movie, there has to be a few that aren’t so great.

Podcast hosts Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas dig into the plots of some truly terrible films (some you’ve probably never heard of) and go through some of the great film bombs of our time.

Little Gold Men

While there are plenty of podcasts out there for film buffs, this podcast is for the people who love award season specifically.

Little Gold Men discusses newly released films, but they also dish on movie premieres, red carpets, and also offer their insight into who should win at the Academy Awards.

If you find yourself getting invested in who’s going to take home a golden statue this year, listen to this podcast!
