Calling all true-crime podcast lovers! If you’re obsessed with learning about serial killers and criminal masterminds (and believe you are now a detective), now is your chance to actually get paid for it.

That’s right, you could make money doing the thing you already love doing, which is listening to hours and hours of podcasts.

Read on to learn more and how you can apply.

Job Description

Vio Security, which is a home security company, is looking for a true-crime buff who is willing to spend quite a few hours listening to some podcasts.

In fact, they are looking to pay their true-crime master $1,666! If you already listen to hours of true-crime podcasts every day, this may be the job for you.

“Upstanding detective or criminal mastermind, True Crime lover or adept podcatcher, scaredy-cat or “final girl” — if you have a taste for the macabre, Vio Security is looking for a who that knows whodunit,” the company wrote in the job posting.

“This Halloween, we’re shelling out $1,666 for one crafty crime buff to listen to 31 hours of the top True Crime podcasts. Think you could handle it?”

If chosen to go on this quest, the winner will have to answer some questions as they listen to over days worth of podcast episodes.

“The jury wants to know: What elements of each story did you like the most? Were your sleep habits affected? Do you believe anyone was falsely accused?” they wrote.

They also reveal in the description that they’ll be sending the winner a heart rate monitor to record their responses as they go from episode to episode.

Variety of Podcasts

The winner will also get to choose from a variety of podcasts so they don’t have to listen to the same one for 31 hours straight.

Here are the podcasts they can choose from:

  • Motive for Murder
  • Crime Junkie
  • Son of a Hitman
  • Dateline
  • My Favorite Murder
  • Real Narcos
  • Serial
  • Someone Knows Something
  • I Survived
  • The Thing About Pam

The only rules the winner must follow is that they listen to each podcast at least once and listen to episodes for the complete 31 hours.

Other Perks of the Job

Along with getting $1,666, Vio Security will also be giving the winner their very own True Crime Kit.

This kit will include a heart rate monitor, a door block mechanism, access to a safety app, a flashlight, whistle, and wireless earbuds.

How to Apply

If this seems like the perfect job for you, here’s how to apply. First, go to Vio Security Site to access the application.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply. Candidates have to fill out the form on the application page and then write a short essay as to why you’re the perfect candidate.

They also want you to answer the following questions in your essay: “How do you usually celebrate the Halloween season? How often do you listen to podcasts? What True Crime story keeps you up at night?”

And, though it’s not required, candidates are also encouraged to send in a video application along with the written application.

The deadline to apply is Monday, October 19 at 12 p.m. MT, so make sure to act fast if you want to be considered!
