Aquarius season is here and it’s time to let loose! We have already listened to an invigorating Aquarius playlist. But today, I’m making a list of film and TV characters who I believe exude Aquarian energy.
This list isn’t only for Aquarius sun signs. You can identify with these characters if your moon or rising signs are in Aquarius as well. You can check your birth chart here!
Ella is either your favorite character in Lucifer, or you’re wrong. Just kidding! But not really. Ms. Lopez is one the most intelligent characters in the show, so I just had to pair her with the zany and brainy Aquarius. Like the fixed air sign, making romantic connections does not always come easy to her, but that doesn’t stop her from trying.
Though she has to have Pisces or Sagittarius somewhere in her birth chart due to her kind heart and penchant for religious philosophy.
Newt gets paired with Aquarius for two reasons. The first reason is that he is often labeled an outcast by his work colleagues and peers. The second reason, Aquarians are known for their technological prowess and Newt is a computer engineer…though not a very good one.
Aquarians often feel like outsiders and Stewart’s skid status makes him a bit of an outsider in the town of Letterkenny. Like the fixed air sign, Stewart is reckless and easily annoyed, but he can be compassionate when the mood strikes him. He also believes himself to be a wondrous revolutionary. Aquarians are also known to be technologically inclined, and he does try to start a social media site for farts.
As one of the only humans in her community of friends and loved ones, it is easy for Bella to feel like an outsider. And Aquarians often feel like outsiders as well. Aquarians also have a tendency to shut off their emotions when they are feeling too many things at once, and Bella shut downs for four months after Edward leaves.
Aquarians often feel like aliens, so who better to pair them with than the new commander of the alien race known only as the Transylvanians? Aquarians can also be quick-tempered and sorely misunderstood. Riff Raff personifies these qualities when he delivers his “He never liked me” speech.
The water-bearer often feels like an outsider amongst their peers. And Jenna feels like an outsider in her L.A.R.P. community as well as the vampire community because she doesn’t have a vampiric ability. But thankfully she harnesses her power of invisibility.
It was hard to find the perfect zodiac sign for Jim. They could easily be paired with Aries or Scorpio, but the honor goes to Aquarius. When Jim is disguising themself on the ship, they feel alone. Like the fixed air sign, Jim is a bit hasty in their decisions and has an incredibly well-developed sense of justice. And though they can be a bit standoffish, they are very compassionate towards Oluwande.
Aquarians often pride themselves on their individuality, so they will identify and sympathize with Abby’s plight of having to pretend to be her girlfriend’s straight roommate in front of her seemingly perfect family. They will also appreciate the clever and dry-witted dialogue.
Orlo may be a bit more reserved than a regular Aquarian, but he is just as revolutionary when helping Catherine stage a coup. His progressive views make him a closeted free thinker on the Emperor’s counsel. Like an Aquarius, he has a lot of emotions trapped inside him but he is not always good at expressing them. He is more pragmatic than reckless though, which leads me to believe he is an Aquarius with a Virgo ascendant.
Oh there they go, Aquarius is so peculiar. Like Belle, Aquarians often feel like they don’t fit in and yearn for something beyond their provincial life. While Belle and Aquarians unapologetically march to the beat of their own drum, they also have great compassion for others who feel alienated by their communities. Though their noses may be stuck in a book, their hearts are in the right place.
The Beast may be an Aquarius too, considering he is also a societal outcast who is quite temperamental.
This ice queen is a water-bearer! Elsa is slightly standoffish and emotionally restrained. Some may see her as cold…pun entirely intended! But she is also fiercely independent and compassionate towards her sister. She is not afraid to venture into the unknown!
So can we all agree that the unfortunate events surrounding Sleeping Beauty could have been prevented if they had just invited Maleficent to the party? Like an Aquarius, Maleficent must struggle with feeling like she’s shunned for being herself. Sometimes when outsiders feel misunderstood by their peers, they lash out in reckless ways…or they curse spinning wheels.
People always assume that Aquarians are aloof, but not a lot of people realize just how loving and helpful they really are. Like Aquarius, the Helping Hands are, as their name suggests, helpful. But also like the fixed air sign, the hands are misunderstood because Sarah does not understand that they are trying to help her.
It was really hard to find an Aquarius pairing for this film and it was equally as hard to find a proper sign for Lieutenant Elliot. So I figured it would make sense to pair them together. Like Aquarius, the Lieutenant is quiet and pensive. The fixed air sign is known to be calm and that’s why people feel so comfortable talking to them. And Lieutenant Elliot was probably the calmest person in the whole movie.
Okay Aquarians, put your pitchforks down and let me explain! Aquarius is one of the most brilliant and kind signs in the zodiac. But they also are one of the most emotionally guarded signs in the zodiac. They love people but they also value their alone time. And that is why I paired them with Derol. Derol is just hanging around Miles’ island because he’s “going through some things.” Whenever he is acknowledged, he is quick to say “I’m not here.” He is out of the way and out of the drama. Like the fixed air sign, he’s happy just to crack open a cold one and watch the world burn.
Enid Sinclair would make a perfect Aquarius for several reasons. Like Wednesday’s outgoing roommate, Aquarians are known for living life to the fullest. However, they must do things on their own time. Enid has Aquarian-level uniqueness and she owns it. Ironically, individualistic Aquarians can feel like lone wolves because they thrive on fulfilling social interactions. Enid is the only one in her wolf pack who hasn’t fully “wolfed out” yet, which makes her feel unfairly judged by her family. The slow-blooming teen wolf also becomes uncontrollably upset when she thinks Ajax stood her up. While Enid’s hurt feelings are totally understandable, her spiraling reaction gives definite Aquarian vibes. The fixed air sign also has an incredible fashion sense. Enid is the most stylish student at Nevermore.
Like his niece, Fester Addams could be considered an outcast amongst the outcasts, since he never went to Nevermore academy. And if there is any zodiac sign who knows what it feels like to be on the outside looking in, it’s Aquarius. But like most Aquarians, Fester is known for more than his isolative nature. Like the fixed air sign, he is highly intelligent and innovative. He’s compassionate too, even though he may not always show it.
Aquarians are often stereotyped as loners. Like the fixed air sign, Misty Day can be classified as a non-conformist in many ways. She was ostracized from her religious community and she was also seen as an outsider by the other witches. But also like Aquarius, Misty is profoundly caring and yearns for friendship and a sense of belonging.
Aquarians will be quite intrigued by this Hulu original. Like the fixed air sign, Shay is a bit of an oddball in the world that she is thrust into. But by claiming her own power, she is able to seek justice for herself and her community. Shay reminds us that if you can’t be a social justice warrior, be a social justice witch!
Aquarians often feel like nobody gets them and can be incredibly moody because of it. The film’s main character Max certainly feels like the odd man out and about in a new town and it reflects in his surly attitude. But like the fixed air sign, he would do just about anything for his loved ones.
Sandy could have easily been paired with Cancer due to her wholesome devotion or Pisces because of her dreamy naïveté. But she ultimately gets paired with Aquarius because she’s humbly one-of-a-kind amongst the showy Pink Ladies and the image-obsessed Thunderbirds. Open-minded Aquarians are also known for being the kind of friend you can count on in a crisis. Sandy displays her nonjudgmental support for Rizzo during her difficult time.
Kat Stafford is the Aquarius that all young Aquarians aspire to be! The Taming of the Shrew adaptation tells the story of very different, but equally silly high school boys trying to woo two sisters. One is people-pleasing and popular while the other is hot-headed and refuses to conform. Aquarians will appreciate that Kat never loses her rebellious spirit even after she falls in love.
Aquarians love to commune with nature. But they can also be technologically-minded whiz-kids glued to screens. Darryl fits that description to a T. Not only is he seen as an outcast and mistreated by his bully, Tyler. But he also uses his video game prowess to help Bob.
The considerate Aquarius is known to be charitable with their time and money. So much so that they don’t always understand how others cannot be charitable. So naturally, I had to pair the fixed air sign with the gentlemen who stop by Scrooge’s place of business at the beginning of the story seeking a donation for those in need.
