The holiday season just wouldn’t be the same without the Home Alone franchise, and this year Disney gifted us with a new installment.
But this year, you can do more than just watch Kevin McCallister wreak havoc on two idiot con men trying to rob the house. You can watch Kevin McCallister wreak havoc on the “Wet Bandits” from inside the McCallister home!
Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!
Home Alone Fans Have the Chance to Stay in the McCallister Home
Yep, the not-so-humble abode that the McCallisters called home is accepting guests. The house will be available to rent on Airbnb, just in time for the holidays.
Although the home sits in the fictional town of Shermer, Illinois, the real house used for filming is located in the very real town of Winnetka, Illinois.
According to the booking page, it’s being rented out by none other than Buzz. He promises that the whole family will be away on vacation this year, so he’s opening the house to a “crew of mischief makers to let their inner eight-year-olds run free.”
During your stay, the McCallister’s home will be decked out in holiday cheer, just like in the 1990 film. There are stockings hung at the fireplace and a “perfectly trimmed tree.” Apparently, there will also be booby traps, according to Devin Ratray, aka Buzz McCallister.
“It’s going to be decorated exactly the way it was 31 years ago and complete with treats and tricks,” Ratray told PEOPLE. “There will be booby traps, but nothing dangerous.”
Menu Includes Plenty of Pizza and Microwavable Macaroni and Cheese
The one-night stay also comes complete with “plenty of Chicago’s finest pizza.” Of course, don’t anticipate Little Nero’s Pizza, because it doesn’t actually exist. You can also expect a “candlelit dinner of microwavable Kraft Macaroni & Cheese,” just like Kevin’s solo meal before facing off with the bungling burglars. Highly nutritious!
“Anything you can possibly imagine in the first movie will be provided,” Ratray assures. Well, “as long as it’s not paint cans in the face.”
The house doesn’t look anything like how the McCallister’s left it in the ’90s. While the exterior is pretty much the same, the inside is definitely different. Gone are the wallpaper and gaudy furniture, which have been replaced with more modern stylings.
Although you won’t be able to order pizza from Little Nero’s Pizza while you watch Angels With Filthy Souls — you know, because neither are actually real — you’ll at least get to say you stayed the night in the infamous house.
During their stay, lucky guests will get to enjoy the newest movie to the Home Alone franchise. Home Sweet Home Alone is streaming on Disney+, along with the original Home Alone, Home Alone 2, and Home Alone 3.
Booking for the Home Alone house on Airbnb opens up very soon. Anyone hoping to live it up in the McCallister house can request to book the $25 stay starting at 1 pm CT on December 7th.
The lucky individual chosen will get to eat junk and watch rubbish for one night only, on December 12th.
