The first movie follows Hollis Morgan as she comes under police scrutiny for a second time when one of her book club members is murdered in the same way from the previous night’s book. Refusing to take the fall again, Hollis decides to investigate the other club members. After a second book-inspired murder, she races to find the killer before she becomes the next victim.

Other cast members include Keith D. Robinson (Dreamgirls), Lisa Berry (Working Moms), Yanic Truesdale (Gilmore Girls), Kaitlyn Leeb (Spinning Out), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), Rainbow Sun Francks (Umbrella Academy), Henderson Wade (Dear White People), Rob Stewart (Suits), Raoul Bhaneja (Blind Spot), and Shawn Ahmed.
