Cowriter and director Colin Treverrow revealed that the original Jurassic Park team would be focused on just as the Jurassic World leads in threequel Jurassic World: Dominion.

Grant’s Team Is Back

Jurassic Park followed Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm trying to survive the wildlife park of dinosaurs. Grant was a velociraptor specialist, Sattler a doctor of paleobotany, and Malcolm a mathematician specializing in chaos theory.

In the first movie, they were joined by wealthy businessman John Hammond and his two grandchildren. Unfortunately, these characters won’t be in Jurassic World: Dominion as Hammond has passed away in the franchise, and the grandchildren haven’t made appearances since The Lost World.

In an interview with Total Film, Treverrow promised Neill, Dern, and Goldblum would have “as much screen time” as the new franchise leads. He also hinted at the storylines both groups would follow and an eventual meet-up between them.

“They’re not together the entire time, but we are following both of their stories equally, and you have a sense that they’re going to collide at a certain point. There’s this tension. It’s not structured necessarily in a way that we’re used to seeing our Hollywood movies structured. But it works.”

Treverrow also said the dinosaurs won’t be pulling a Godzilla and marching around metropolitan areas but instead spending their lives in unincorporated areas like modern-day wild animals.

B.D. Wong will also be returning as Dr. Henry Wu, a biotechnologist who will make his fourth Jurassic Park appearance next year. In Jurassic Park, Wu was the chief geneticist at the park. He returned in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as the creator of two new dinosaurs.

The New Leads Are Also Returning

Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt are returning as Claire Dearing and Owen Grady to lead the new franchise’s team. Dearing was the operations manager of the Jurassic World theme park in the first sequel film, while Grady was a dinosaur trainer who spent most of his time with velociraptors.

Daniella Pineda is returning as Zia Rodriguez, a paleo-veterinarian who joined the Dinosaur Protection Group in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Justice Smith will also return as Franklin Webb, the DPG’s systems analyst.

Omar Sy appeared in Jurassic World as Grady’s assistant and friend, Barry. He will be reprising the role in Jurassic Park: Dominion. Isabella Sermon will also be reprising her role as Maisie Lockwood, the girl who set off the events leading to the threequel.

Campbell Scott will be taking over the role of Dr. Lewis Dodgson from Cameron Thor in Jurassic Park. The film also adds new cast members Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, and DeWanda Wise in undisclosed roles.

What Is ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ About?

The new film will pick up four years after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Humanity will be struggling to coexist with dinosaur species around the world. Most of the plot is still unknown, but we have been able to get a few sneak peeks at the movie.

The franchise released a prologue video to get fans pumped about the release next year. It takes viewers 65 million years ago to when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Then, taking cues from Planet Earth, it recounts Earth’s history before chaos strikes when dinosaurs are thrust into modern-day civilization.

During Treverrow’s interview with Total Film, a photo of Bryce Dallas Howard in the sequel was released. In it, she is swimming neck-deep in an algae-filled river with a dinosaur behind her.

The sequel franchise picked up two decades after the original theme park was deconstructed with a new one, Jurassic World, taking its place to honor John Hammond’s dying wish. In Jurassic World, visitors and employees were terrorized by the Indominus rex after it escaped its enclosure.

In the second film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the abandoned dinosaurs are threatened by a volcano. Claire and Owen decide to relocate the animals, moving them to the estate of Hammond’s old business partner, Sir Benjamin Lockwood. There, Lockwood’s granddaughter, Maisie, frees the dinosaurs to help them escape a gas leak, ultimately letting them free to roam the planet.
