Do you like scary movies? What about dirt-cheap vacation rentals?

The house of horrors from Scream (1996), where the terrifying Ghostface’s identity finally comes to light, is located in Northern California about 70 miles north of San Francisco.

The entrance of the home now features a stained-glass window that displays an image of the masked murderer holding a bloody knife. Sound inviting?

If so, you’re welcome to book a stay at the house for only $5 per night on Airbnb. It’s the perfect getaway for horror fans and bargain hunters. Be aware that the exact location of the home won’t be revealed until your reservation is complete. Spooky, huh?

The Scream house experience is part of a celebration of the film’s upcoming 25th anniversary. It’s also a promotion for the next Scream installment, which is coming in 2022.

This particular Airbnb offers a lot more than a bed and some breakfast. Guests who are able to score a reservation will meet Sheriff Dewey Riley himself (yes, David Arquette really participates!) when he virtually welcomes you to the home. You’ll have the whole house to yourself, though; there’s no need to worry about making small talk with Dewey if you just want to unpack and get your vacation started.

The Airbnb listing says Dewey is the host of the entire home. He writes, “As the local sheriff, it’s my duty to be your host to keep everything under control for your stay at the SCREAM house. What could possibly go wrong? In honor of SCREAM’s 25th anniversary and the upcoming 2022 film, face your fears and stay the night where Ghostface’s terrors began.”

Upon arrival, guests can enjoy Dewey’s VHS tape collection of all four Scream films to really get into the Halloween spirit. Or they can call up Ghostface to “ask questions or make requests,” the listing states. Whether you’re having trouble figuring out how to turn on the shower or you have a burning question about knives, Ghostface is there to help.

Airbnb also says that Ghostface will likely call the guests himself throughout the night if they don’t ring him first.

Want to try to get a reservation for Sheriff Dewey’s Scream experience? Hopeful guests can start booking at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12.

There are three nights available for reservations: October 27, October 29, and October 31. It’s not clear how Dewey will choose which of the many applicants will get to have the Scream experience, as it’s not a contest. Make sure you’re ready to make your reservation as soon as it’s available, or you might miss your shot!

As for staying safe and healthy during your stay, Dewey’s doing his best to keep you away from Ghostface and other intruders.

“Once you arrive and check-in, our socially distanced concierge will ensure a comfortable stay for you and your guest — including showing you around and arranging meals,” he writes on Airbnb.

“I’ll give you my best tips to survive the night, but if Ghostface has anything to say about it, there will be no shortage of haunts and happenings.”
