Netflix is releasing its newest horror flick just in time for spooky season. There’s Someone Inside Your House is being released early next month, and this is everything we know about the movie so far.
Sydney Park stars as Makani Young, the main protagonist of the book this flick is based on by Stephanie Perkins. Park is known for her work as Cyndie in The Walking Dead, Gabby in Instant Mom, and Caitlin Park-Lewis in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
Théodore Pellerin stars opposite Park as Oliver Larsson. Pellerin is best known for his work in Family First as Vincent. Oliver Larsson is one of the main suspects in the murder cases and is Makani’s love interest.
Ashja Cooper will star as Alex, Makani’s goth friend and classmate. Dale Whibley joins the cast as Zach. Zach is Osborne High School’s burnout student who is known to be abrasive to classmates.
Sarah Dugdal will portray Katie Koons. The rest of the cast includes Markian Tarasuik as Jackson Pace, Zane Clifford as Macon Bewley, Kayla Heller as Olivia Grace, Andrew Dunbar as Deputy Chris Larsson, and William MacDonald as Mr. Sandford.
Also joining the cast are William Edward as Randall, Emilija Baranac as Hailey, Ivy Matheson as Kayla, Tedra Rogers as Abigail, Tally Rodin as Jasmine, Anthony Timpano as Witt, Brittany Hobson as Briana, and Jade Falcon as Stacy.
Burkely Duffield, Jesse LaTourette, and Diego Josef also join the cast in unnamed roles.
There’s Someone Inside Your House is based on Stephanie Perkins’s first thriller book.
The film and book follow Makani Young as she adjusts to her new life in a small Nebraska town. Then her classmates start to die in gruesome murders as graduation draws nearer.
The killer is set to expose all secrets in town and wears a mask of their victims’ faces as they chase them down. Makani and her friends set out to unveil the killer before they are the next targets.
The film is described as a modern-day Friday the 13th while still reminiscent of 80s and 90s flicks like The Breakfast Club.
Patrick Brice, director of Creep and Creep 2, will be directing the adaptation.
Writer Henry Grayden, who wrote Shazam!, adapted Stephanie Perkins’s book into a screenplay. Perkins is most known for her young adult romance books like Anna and The French Kiss.
Shawn Levy, James Wan, Dan Cohen, and Michael Clear will serve as producers for the film.
The film score was composed by Zachary Dawes.
There’s Someone Inside Your House will premiere at Fantastic Fest in September 2021 before being released worldwide on Netflix on October 6.
The full trailer was released on Monday, September 13, and fans are already voicing their opinions on the film. Most have been excited and can’t wait for the drop.
Principal photography took place in Vancouver from August 22, 2019, to October 12, 2019. Additional photography concluded elsewhere on August 23, 2020.
