This probably shouldn’t come as a shock to literally anyone, but it has been confirmed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige that the next Deadpool movie will be rated R. Not only that, but it will also be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool Will Be a ‘different type of character in the MCU’
During a WandaVision press event, Feige provided a little more detail about what we can expect from Deadpool 3.
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan [Reynolds is] overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor.
“We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
Ryan Reynolds unsurprisingly had a tongue-firmly-in-cheek response about the new film on Twitter, and how he was able to convince Disney to allow an R-rated franchise to wear mouse ears:
Full disclosure: I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2. #Deadpool3 https://t.co/N0IGDbpBK0
