Get ready to see Batman and his many adopted children in a whole new light. Batman: Wayne Family Adventures takes us into the home of Bruce Wayne to see the family behind the masks.

What Is ‘Batman: Wayne Family Adventures’?

Batman: Wayne Family Adventures is DC’s first original story by Webtoon. The weekly comic started in September 2021 and immediately received praise.

The series, which skews more sitcom than action, shows the Bat-Family as just your average modern household. They fight over Alfred’s cookies, hold competitions in the gym, and other things all families can relate to.

The series is much more comedic than any other Batman media. Episode four even includes a Spider-Man meme-inspired moment. However, you’ll have to check out the webcomic yourself to see which characters were involved in that standoff.

The Live-Action Adaptation Is Coming Soon

As part of Batman Day, DC Comics announced that Batman: Wayne Family Adventures is being made into a three-part series of shorts based on the webcomic.

Ismahawk, a group of independent filmmakers, is producing the series. They released the teaser trailer on October 6, and the full trailer will release October 11.

Fans won’t have to wait too long, though, since it’s expected to premiere on Ismahawk’s YouTube channel in mid-October.

While there are only three episodes set to be released by Ismahawk, there’s a possibility we will get more. If the episodes released later this month do well, then Webtoon, DC, and Ismahawk may team up again for the rest of the webcomic’s adaptations.

Ismahawk was funded in 2012 and has since made many DC-inspired series and short films. Their most successful was Nightwing: The Series from 2014. If that effort is any indicator, Wayne Family Adventures is in good hands.

Danny Shepherd will direct the series, and Jeremy Le is the director of photography.

Who’s Playing the Bat-Family?

Jonathan Bentley will be portraying Batman in this sitcom-style adaptation. Bentley is best known for his modeling and commercial acting.

Dick Grayson, also known as Nightwing, will be played by Yoshi Sudarso. Yoshi is best known for his role in Buffalo Boys. He tweeted after the announcement that this role is a dream come true.

Yoshi’s brother Peter Sudarso will be playing Tim Drake, also known as Red Robin. He has been on Supergirl and The Paper Tigers.

Red Hood, better known as Jason Todd, will be portrayed by Tim Neff of Outpost and Echo 3.

Carter Rockwood will be playing Damian Wayne, the latest Robin. This is Rockwood’s first big role, but he can be seen in a few short films from earlier this year.

Oracle, AKA Barbara Gordon, will be portrayed by Lisa Foiles. Foiles shot to stardom with her regular role on All That in the early 2000s.

Meghan Camarena will portray Stephanie Brown, also known as Spoiler. Camarena has been in Power Rangers Hyperforce as the Pink Ranger and Video Game High School.

Gemma Nguyen will play Cassandra Cain, or Orphan. Nguyen is best known for her stunt work, but she can be seen acting in various projects, including Power Rangers Legacy Wars: Street Fighter Showdown.

Du-Shaunt “Fik-shun” Stegal will be portraying Duke Thomas, or Signal, a young metahuman new to the family. You might recognize him from So You Think You Can Dance.

Rounding out the Bat-Family, Marcus Weiss will be portraying our favorite spy-turned-butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Weiss is best known for 21 and The Trust.

I don’t know about you, but I will definitely be tuning in to watch every episode when they come out.
