The upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars is foxtrotting back into our lives on September 14th, and the all-star cast has been announced!
Full DWTS Celebrity Lineup Announced
Wednesday morning, Good Morning America revealed the full celebrity cast of ABC’s beloved dance competition show and the dance floor is about to heat up.
Let me tell you, season 29 is definitely not going to disappoint! Prepare yourself — we’re getting some serious starpower with a boy band heartthrob, a Grammy Award-winning rapper, and even a Tiger King star.
Let’s take a look at some of the notable stars that will be competing for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.
We already know that AJ McLean of Backstreet Boys fame is well-equipped to bring his “Larger Than Life” dance moves to the stage. But will his boy band moves be enough to keep him in the competition?
Former NFL tight end Vernon Davis will also be competing.
“I may have a Superbowl ring, but I need that mirror ball trophy,” Davis said in the announcement promo.
He’s not the only athlete set to waltz on stage, either. NBA superstar Charles Oakley, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, and Navarro College Cheer Team coach Monica Aldama (also featured on Netflix’s Cheer) are all joining DWTS this season.
Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe is also joining the lineup. She joked that since she is “no longer accepting roses” she’d be happy to take a few 10’s from the judges instead.
Tiger King‘s Carole Baskin is Ready to Rumba
I’m curious to see if Tiger King’s Carole Baskin has any secret dance moves to bring to the stage. After the reveal, Baskin spoke with GMA and said she hopes people will see her in a new light.
“The biggest thing for me is the longer my partner and I can stay in the running and in the competition, it will keep the cats forefront in the viewers’ eye,” Baskin revealed. “And to me, that was where Tiger King missed the ball. It really should have been focused on the animal and I’m hoping Dancing With the Stars will do that.”
She’s still ready to compete for that trophy though, stating, “I am competitive but I am competitive with myself. I want to do the very best that I can possibly do.”
My favorite competitor this season, though? Three-time Grammy-winning rapper Nelly. It’s about to get “Hot in Herre” because he says he’s “up to the challenge.”
“I’m a Scorpio. I feel like I can do anything so this is gonna be my biggest test yet. But I’m up for it,” Nelly said while chatting with the morning show.
“I love competition and I think this is one that will set me apart from others if I can pull this one off. Only because I got two left feet, and probably two right ankles,” the rapper joked. “So I’m trying to see where we can go with this thing.”
Season 29 will also be Tyra Banks’ first turn in the ballroom as host.
