As summer heat keeps raging on, Netflix is dropping a slew of new titles to keep you entertained while you cool off indoors. With new Netflix Originals, superheroes, sports documentaries, and more, there’s definitely plenty of content to go around.
The Newest Comic Book Adaptation From DC Comics
Let’s start off August with a bang! Fans of DC Comics are looking forward to The Sandman, a TV series based on the Neil Gaiman comic book of the same name. After efforts to adapt the comic floundered for years, the project eventually shifted from a movie to a TV series. It was developed by Gaiman himself, along with David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg. Tom Sturridge stars as Dream, the titular Sandman.
Volume 2 of Netflix’s Untold Collection
Netflix’s Untold, a collection of sports documentary films, is back for August. Volume 2 is starting on August 16th with Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist. It centers on football star Manti Te’o, and a secret online relationship that sent him into a spiral. We’ll see two more, Untold: The Rise and Fall of AND1 and Untold: Operation Flagrant Foul, through the end of the month. The fourth and final installment of Volume 2 will arrive on Netflix in September.
Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg as Blue-Collar Vampire Hunters
I am pretty interested in catching Day Shift when it hits the streaming giant on August 12th. This Netflix original movie stars Jamie Foxx as Bud, a hardworking dad doing his best to provide a good life for his daughter. The kicker, though, is that his mundane pool cleaning job is actually a front for his real job: hunting and killing vampires. The film also stars Dave Franco, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Snoop Dogg, and more.
New Content for Kids, Too
Kids are getting plenty of new content, too. On August 5th, our favorite heroes in a half-shell are back with Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie. Cowabunga! Volume 2 of The Cuphead Show! arrives on August 19th, and the reality series Junior Baking Show is back for a sixth season on August 17th. There is also a limited series from Netflix called Lost Ollie that arrives on August 24th, in which a lost toy searches the countryside for the boy who lost him. The cast includes Jonathan Groff, Mary J.Blige, Gina Rodriguez, Jake Johnson, and more.
Of course, we’ve barely scratched the surface and there’s a ton more content coming. Here is everything coming to Netflix in August 2022.
