We are kicking off summer with a whole slew of new Netflix titles!

After all, there’s no better way to beat the impending summer heat with a little bit of binge-watching, right? Netflix is bringing us tons of movies and shows, so there’s plenty to go around. There are brand-spankin’ new Netflix Originals, international dramas, superheroes, and a bunch of stand-up comedy specials.

Front Row Seat to the Netflix Is a Joke Fest

Speaking of stand-up, Netflix recently held a massive live comedy festival in Los Angeles. Titled Netflix is a Joke Fest, it was the first time Netflix hosted a live comedy festival. Luckily for those of us who couldn’t drop everything and head to L.A., Netflix is bringing the laughs straight to us. Some of the shows were taped and are coming to the streaming service.

One of the specials has already aired on May 19. The Hall: Honoring the Greats of Stand-Up celebrated great stand-up comedians who are no longer with us: Robin Williams, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, and George Carlin. They were honored by John Mulaney, Chelsea Handler, Dave Chappelle, and Jon Stewart.

Throughout the month of June, ten more specials filmed during the festival will hit Netflix. You’ll find all of those in the full list below. I’ll mark them so you can’t miss them!

Netflix Originals

You can expect to see plenty of Netflix Originals hitting the streaming service in the month of June. These series and films have been commissioned, produced, and distributed by Netflix, and you can’t find them anywhere else.

Borgen: Power and Glory is one such Netflix Original that arrives on June 2. This is actually a continuation of a previously cancelled show. Originally a hit Danish political drama, it ran for three seasons. Power and Glory, while technically season four of the series, is being considered a stand-alone continuation by Netflix. That means that you can jump in with Power and Glory even if you haven’t seen the rest of Borgen.

Chris Hemsworth is headlining his second major action franchise with Netflix Original Spiderhead. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, it centers on a prisoner in a state-of-the-art penitentiary being run by a doctor experimenting on inmates with mind-altering drugs.

For something a little lighter, Netflix is bringing us God’s Favorite Idiot, a new comedy series starring Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone. Tech-support employee Clart Thompson (Falcone) falls for his co-worker (McCarthy), but he also happens to become God’s messenger tasked with preventing the Apocalypse. Now he needs his girlfriend’s help to spread the word and hopefully save the world.

And fans of the game show Floor Is Lava will be happy to know that the show is finally returning! First premiering in 2020, it tasks contestants with navigating an obstacle course while avoiding the bright red goopy “lava” floor.
