Calling all Mandalorian fans! Did we just get a sneak peek at what’s in store for the next season?

San Diego Comic-Con was originally devoted to comic books, it’s become host to major announcements from TV networks and movie studios. This year didn’t disappoint.
While Comic-Con 2021 was a virtual event instead of the usual epic live event in San Diego, there were still plenty of panels devoted to upcoming TV and film releases. That meant no long lines, no crowded convention center, and no having to put on pants!
Is This a Hint at What’s to Come in The Mandalorian Season 3?
Comic-Con@Home had a reduced schedule and everything was available from the comfort of your own living room, but it was still packed full of information. It’s easy to miss a thing or two. But there was one thing that got me wondering about where season 3 of The Mandalorian will take our favorite characters.
An officially licensed poster was previewed, and it shows a young Luke Skywalker and Grogu building a lightsaber.

You’ll remember that The Mandalorian season 2 finished with Din Djarin, aka Mando, handing off his adorable companion Grogu to Skywalker to be trained in the ways of the Force. And it wasn’t just someone playing Skywalker — it was Mark Hamill himself, de-aged with the magic of visual effects.

After that, fans have been left wondering what will come next. What will Mando be up to, and is his story with Grogu done? The future of The Child’s story is very much up in the air.
The poster from Comic-Con@Home may give us insight to what we’ll see when season 3 finally drops, so let’s dig in!
Lightsaber Pieces, Baby Grogu, and a Kyber Crystal!
In the Shop Trends exclusive wall poster, we see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and little Grogu constructing what appears to be a lightsaber! Grogu is using the Force to levitate a bunch of cylindrical pieces to a lightsaber. Simultaneously, Skywalker has a yellow kyber crystal hovering above his palm.
The artwork, titled “Size Matters Not,” was created by artist Russell Walks. He also took to Twitter to show off the poster design, writing, “I feel so lucky to be able to play in such a wonderful galactic sandbox.”
Hey! Here’s the new Luke and Grogu piece I created for my pals @intltrends It’s called “Size Matters Not”. Man, you guys, I feel so lucky to be able to play in such a wonderful galactic sandbox. #starwars #TheMandalorian #grogu #LukeSkywalker pic.twitter.com/b8oIjtDHLM

Does this mean that we will see more of Grogu and his training with Luke? And will our little “Baby Yoda” wield his own lightsaber?!
I don’t know about you, but the ending to season 2 left me a little more than anxious about Grogu’s ultimate fate. After all, we already know from the sequel trilogy that Luke Skywalker’s Jedi academy, the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, was eventually destroyed by “Jedi Killer” Kylo Ren.
Okay, so a poster isn’t exactly canon. Even still, it’s an exciting glimpse into what Grogu might be getting into with Luke. And if it is any indication of what we may see in Mandalorian season 3, it means we’ll be seeing young Luke Skywalker again, too.
Will Mark Hamill Return or Be Recast?
Everything around season 3 has been carefully kept under wraps, so we don’t know anything about casting yet. That means that we have no idea if they’ll stick with Disney’s patented de-aging technology or if they might cast another actor to fill his shoes.
However, there is one actor from the MCU that could definitely fit the bill as a thirty-something Luke. Sebastian Stan has long been a fan-favorite choice for a young Skywalker. He has gained recognition for his role as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, and impressed Marvel fans in the recent Disney+ series.
Instagram user @morphy_me replaced Mark Hamill’s face with Sebastian Stans, and it’s uncanny. Just one look at @morphy_me’s Photoshopped image will have you doing double-takes.
They swapped Stan’s face into a photo of Mark Hamill, and it’s wild how similar the two look. The image is actually from 2016, but it went viral later when fans took notice. Yes, that really is just Stan’s face on Hamill’s head! But it would be so easy to mistake it for an unshaven Hamill.
