The gang may be getting back together after all!

Big Little Lies took the world by storm when it first premiered on HBO back in February 2017, but after the second season wrapped in July 2019, fans didn’t know if the show would ever return.

Well, though we don’t exactly have confirmation, Nicole Kidman did recently reveal that Season 3 may be on the horizon.

It Was Originally a Limited Series

When the first season came out the show was billed as a limited series, as it was based on the 2014 novel by Liane Moriarty.

But, thanks to the fan support and critical acclaim, the creators decided to do a second season a couple of years later.

Though there haven’t been official talks about Season 3, Kidman revealed in Marie Claire Australia that there have been talks about reuniting.

Season 3 is a Possibility

In fact, the cast, which includes Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz, still stays in contact and is desperate to work together again.

“Reese and I talk or text once a week. She’s just moved back to Nashville and we’re really close. We all just want to work together again,” the 53-year-old actress shared.

“I texted Zoë and Laura, and they’re in. David and Liane have a really good idea for it. Watch this space!”

Need the Whole Gang Back

Kidman actually opened up about wanting to do a third season last year, but she revealed it would only happen if the entire group could be back, including the actors who play the kids!

“I think we would love to do a season three because there is certainly ideas. But we would not do it without all of the same people involved … even the kids,” she told News Corp Australia

“I’m so glad the show has found its way because there really is nothing on TV with six female leads.”

She continued, “I don’t know where that show is, so to have the support now has been incredible. It’s never going to be perfect, but by gosh, it’s so great there are six lead roles for women in one show.”

Awards Success

Along with being a commercial success, Big Little Lies has also done very well when it comes to awards.

Kidman, along with Dern, won Emmys in 2017 for their acting performances, and the show itself won the Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series.

At this year’s Emmy Awards, the show picked up supporting actress nominations for Dern and Meryl Streep, as well as for outstanding makeup, casting, and production design.

Who Could Be in Season 3?

Fans were more than excited when Streep decided to join Season 2 as Kidman’s character, Celeste’s, mother-in-law.

Though we don’t want to get our hopes up for Season 3 in case it doesn’t happen, it is fun to think about who could potentially star in the third go-around.

In fact, during an Instagram live with co-stars Witherspoon and Dern back in May, Witherspoon revealed she’d love to see Jennifer Lopez on the show.

“I’m always hoping for J.Lo to show up, just ’cause I really enjoy some J.Lo,” she shared at the time.

Who knows for sure if we’ll get a third season, but for now, let’s all just imagine J.Lo getting into fights and creating drama with the other ladies in Monterrey.
