One of the best Netflix crime dramas available, Ozark, will finally return for its fourth and final season in 2022.

The series follows Marty Byrde, his wife Wendy, and their two children as a money laundering scheme tied to a Mexican drug cartel brings them to the Ozarks in Missouri. What happens there is three seasons’ worth of violent, bloody, and titillating stories of secrets, betrayal, and vengeance.

Netflix has released their first teaser trailer for the fourth season of the show, which will pick up right where Season 3 left off. If you’ve seen the entire series so far, you definitely haven’t forgotten that final scene. And when I say the show picks up right where it left off, I mean the new trailer shows Marty and Wendy literally picking the chunks of…you know who…out of their hair and clothes.

Get ready to finally see how the writers will tie up the drama between the Byrdes, the Langmores, the Snells, and the leaders of the Mexican drug cartel.

‘Ozark’ to Follow Up An Immaculate Third Season

The violent end to Season 3 shocked even the most loyal Ozark fans, who are well aware what this show is capable of. The fact that we knew we probably wouldn’t get another season for over a year made the ending of Season 3 even more heartbreaking. The wait for the next chapter of the story has been long and arduous, but I have a feeling it’s going to be worth it.

So much happened in Season 3, which is the highest-rated season of the show’s run. Season 1 holds an approval rating of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 has 76%, and Season 3 has an incredible 98%.

The “Critics Consensus” statement for Season 3 from the site reads, “Ozark finally finds its footing in the third season that ramps up the tension and shines a brighter spotlight on Laura Linney’s exceptional performance.”

Fans Are Waiting Patiently…Sort Of

Fans of Ozark like myself are ecstatic to see what becomes of this story. However, there is definitely frustration in the air, especially over on Twitter. Ozark has a history of keeping viewers waiting quite a long time between seasons. But can we really be mad when each season gets better and better?

The fanbase would feel better if Netflix could at least offer a more definitive date for the premiere of Season 4.

Alas, even though it would be nice to have all the details right now, we’ll take what we can get. I look forward to seeing what these writers have up their sleeves for the fourth season of this gripping show.

The fourth season of Ozark will be split into two parts, so we’ll probably have to endure at least one more infuriating cliffhanger at the end of Part One before they deliver on the series finale. There will be seven episodes in each part.

The series has garnered over 30 Emmy nominations throughout its run. It will be interesting to see how many more Emmy nods they’ll collect once Season 4 airs. The show’s talented cast includes Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, and Julia Garner, all of whom have received critical praise (and a few Emmys) for their performances.
