If you’re anything like me, you’ve been anxiously awaiting all that new Star Wars content to hit Disney+. We are so close to the release date for The Bad Batch (May 4), and not so close to the release date for The Book of Boba Fett (all the way in December 2021).

It looks like the streaming service has got us covered. They’ve added even more content to tide us over.

Earlier this month, some classic Star Wars content hit the streamer. We’re talking about the old-school 2D animated Clone Wars series from 2003 and some seriously vintage stuff like 1978’s The Story of the Faithful Wookiee.

If you’re looking for the newly added content, they’ve dropped it under “Star Wars Vintage Collection.”

Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) Now Streaming

Don’t get confused about Star Wars: Clone Wars. The CGI-animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars from 2008 was already on Disney+ — and you should absolutely watch it before The Bad Batch drops on May 4. However, there was a 2D Clone Wars (sans “The”) created by Genndy Tartakovsky that aired on Cartoon Network back in 2003.

Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003)

Clone Wars was critically acclaimed, winning three Primetime Emmys. And although it was classified as non-canonical when Disney acquired the rights to Lucasfilm, it’s definitely worth a watch. It was the first bridge between Episode II and Episode III, and its success is what led to 2008’s The Clone Wars.

The Story of the Faithful Wookiee

Lucasfilm and Disney dropped some seriously vintage stuff for fans, too. Most notably is the animated short The Story of the Faithful Wookiee, which saw the introduction of the now infamous fan-favorite character Boba Fett.

The Story of the Faithful Wookiee

The short was part of the widely panned Star Wars Holiday Special. The special aired in 1978, and never saw the light of day again. This is the first time The Story of the Faithful Wookiee has been widely released again — save for as an Easter egg on the 2011 Blu-ray collection, Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up on seeing the Star Wars Holiday Special in its entirety, though. While this is the first time any piece of it has been widely released again, there apparently aren’t any plans to release more of the special.

More Ewoks!

And if you’re ready to revisit the Ewoks, the Vintage Collection has got you covered, too. They’ve added the animated Ewoks cartoon from 1985, featuring an animated Wicket and friends in Bright Tree Village on the Forest Moon of Endor. You’ll also find the live-action TV movies Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure from 1984, and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor from 1985. Aside from their VHS releases back in the day, these have been largely unavailable.

The series Star Wars: Droids is absent from the collection at this time, but rumor has it that the animated TV series is coming soon. It’s slated to join the Vintage Collection later this year. It features the exploits of R2-D2 and C-3PO before the events of A New Hope. IG-88 and Boba Fett make appearances, too.
