Looks like Joe Exotic isn’t the only one viewers are tuning in to watch. Carole Baskin has a new Discovery+ series, Carole Baskin’s Cage Fight which follows the activist on her quest for justice post Tiger King. This new series shows the darker side of the illegal exotic animal world and shows Baskin going through Joe’s zoo that she purchased.

Whether you love her or hate her, you have to admit the woman is ballsy, going on Reddit for an “ask me anything,” and actually answering the tough questions.

“This is a unique opportunity for audiences to come behind the scenes with us for an unfiltered look at how we expose the cub-petting exploiters and roadside zoos we feel are mistreating animals.”

It’ll be interesting to see how Baskin is without Joe Exotic egging her on. Hopefully, we’ll get some answers and see all the things the Tiger King was hiding at his zoo.

Netflix announced this morning that the legendary Tiger King docuseries is returning for a second season.

Here’s what we know about Tiger King 2 thus far. The first thing Netflix promises in their press release is that this season will have “more madness and mayhem” than the one before it. Is that really possible? With this cast of characters, it just might be.

‘Tiger King 2’

Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, the directors of Season 1, will be returning for Season 2. They will also serve as executive producers alongside Chris Smith and Fisher Stevens.

Chris Smith wrote and directed the popular documentary about the 2017 Fyre Festival scandal, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened (2019). That project was also released through Netflix.

Fisher Stevens most recently directed Palmer, a film about a former college football star who is at the end of a 12-year prison sentence. Justin Timberlake plays the lead, Eddie Palmer. The movie premiered on Apple TV+ in late January of this year, and so far, it’s received mixed reviews.

Now that we know which folks from behind the camera will be returning after Season 1, let’s talk about the cool cats and kittens from the cast that we’ll get to catch up with in Season 2.

Joe Exotic

Of course, there would be no Tiger King 2 without the King himself. Joe Exotic–AKA Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage–will appear in the documentary, but he will only be able to communicate from a telephone. He is still serving a 17-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center prison in Fort Worth, TX.

Our favorite former presidential candidate who won 962 votes in the 2016 election will be back again for Season 2. While we don’t know the entire plot of this installment, we can expect to hear about the deterioration of his four-year marriage to Dillon Passage, his second husband.

Dillon Passage

Dillon Passage married Joe Exotic just two months after Joe’s first husband, Travis Maldonado, passed away. Passage was Joe Exotic’s rock at the end of Tiger King‘s first season, supporting his husband via phone calls to his prison.

On March 26 of 2021, Passage announced on Instagram that he and Joe Exotic were amicably seeking a divorce. Since July, Passage has officially been in a relationship with a man named John. Joe Exotic reportedly learned of the relationship through TMZ, and he stated that he wishes the new couple well.

There would be no Tiger King without Carole Baskin, and the 60-year-old activist for big cat rights has been staying busy since the premiere of Season 1. She danced to “Eye of the Tiger” on Dancing with the Stars, and she continued to deny that she murdered her ex-husband, Don Lewis.

But is she willing to return for Season 2? As of right now, it doesn’t look good. She stated in February of this year that producers had contacted her about participating in the second season, but she claims she told them to “lose her number.”

I think there may still be a chance that she changes her mind. Netflix’s teaser for Tiger King 2 is just that; a teaser. It will probably be a couple more months before we see what kind of drama the producers have up their sleeve for Tiger King, Season 2.

Check out Netflix’s teaser trailer for Tiger King 2. It comes along with a promotion for their true crime library, to which they will add four new series and films starting later this year and stretching into early 2022.

Tiger King 2 is one of those four series that they’re dedicating some serious energy toward. Considering how big a deal Tiger King was, Netflix is likely preparing for another major influx of new viewers, mentions on social media, and a whole lot of cash once Season 2 airs.

The other new true crime films and series included in the teaser include Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman; The Tinder Swindler; Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King, and Bad Vegan.

“Whether you want to dive into the psyche of a con artist, empathize with the victims of a scam, or piece together the puzzle of an investigation, these wild stories are often full of surprising twists and unusual perspectives,” Netflix Documentary VPs Adam Del Deo and Lisa Nishimura said in a press release.
